Translation

Γραφὰς σφραγίζω Θεοδώρου.

I seal the letters of Theodore.

Commentary

In his unpublished catalogue of the Shaw collection, Laurent restores, Γραφὰς σφραγίζω καὶ λόγους Θεοδώρου, a common dodecasyllabic inscription (see Wassiliou-Seibt, Corpus, no. 381). While it is possible that there was some sort of engraver's error as Laurent alleges, it seems more likely that this inscription is related but separate.
