Commentary

Cheynet published two seals of a Basil Trichinopodes protospatharios, hypatos, and strategos of Anabarza (Collection Zacos, nos. 4a and b). The reading of the family name on these seals is certain, and Cheynet suggested that our two seals (this specimen and BZS.1951.31.5.587) were issued by the same man. This can now be confirmed on the basis of a seal published by Werner Seibt, "Four seals of the 11th century from Yozgat," BZ 113(3) (2020), no. 1, pp. 925-27; this is a parallel on which the reading Τριχ(ι)νοπόδ(ην) is clearly legible. As a result, we have corrected our original reading (Triklinios) which appeared in the printed catalogue, DO Seals 5.
