Translation

Θεοτόκε βοήθει Σωτηρίχῳ ἐπισκόπῳ Δαρδάνου.

Mother of God, help Soterichos, bishop of Dardanon.

Commentary

Modern Maltepe is situated along the Asiatic coast of the Dardanelles. The see, a suffragan of Kyzikos, was in place by the mid-fifth century and is attested in all notitiae until the thirteenth century. See also Laurent, Corpus V/1, 256.
