Commentary
These monograms seemingly contain some sort of misspellings; otherwise they are unresolvable. However both proposed misspellings are quite possible; both ω's are unnecessary, as the ω only appears in the nominative (Πανταλέων and προτήκτωρ), and shortens to an ο in the stem of the noun seen in the genitive, as on this seal. The office of protektor seen on the resolvedis also spelled προτίκτωρ, which actually retains the ω in the genitive stem; the reverse is slightly less certain however, because the κ is cut-off, and may actually be a ν, suggesting perhaps a misspelling for πρωτονοταρίου, though the η would be odd and the α is not apparent. Though an old office, protektor is attested in the 6-7th century still on a seal of Zacos-Veglery (no. 568).
