Translation

Καλὸν σκέποις με Τουρμαρχόπωλον, κόρη.

Virgin, watch over me, Kalos Tourmarchopoulos.

Commentary

The reverse of the seal includes a twelve-syllable metrical inscription which should be added to the entry in Wassiliou-Seibt, Siegel mit metrischen Legenden I, no. 1085. Cheynet, Morrisson, and Seibt (Seyrig, no. 321) date a parallel specimen to the last third of the eleventh or first third of the twelfth century.
