Commentary

The obverse of this seal is problematic because it can be resolved as a number of both names and titles. Zacos picks κουράτορος (kourator), an obvious choice except that the other side only seems to resolve to σακελλαρίου, and it is very unlikely that the seal would contain these two offices without a name. Τhe other possible office is κοαίστορος (quaestor), but this seems unlikely for the same reason as κουράτορος; ακτουάριος (aktouarios) in the nominative is unlikely. We are left with three possible names in the genitive: Σταυράκιου, Κρατίστου, and Καστρικίου, all of which are possible.
