Commentary

The obverse is a twelve-syllable verse.

A similar seal is preserved in the Hermitage (M-6524). On the reverse the Christian name is spelled in full. Concerning variations in the spelling of the name Kostomyres, see A. K. Wassiliou, "Zur indirekten Überlieferung von Siegeln in byzantinischen Urkunden," 148–49.
