Two emperors, Leo IV on the left, and Constantine VI (beardless) on the right, wearing the chlamys and seated on thrones. No epigraphy or border visible.

Reverse

In the upper field, busts of two emperors (both deceased when the seal was struck), identified as Leo III and Constantine V. Both wear the loros. In the lower half, below an exergual line, an inscription of four lines. No border visible.

Ἄμβρῳ βασιλικῷ σιλεντιαρίῳ καὶ ἄρχοντι τοῦ βλαττίου καὶ γενικῷ κομμερκιαρίῳ.

Commentary

The reading of the last line has been restored on the basis of the parallels published by Zacos-Veglery (no. 272).
