Commentary
Note the use of double abbreviation signs in the inscription on the reverse, a most unusual epigraphic feature. The blanks used for this and the other seals of Euphemianos in the Dumbarton Oaks collection (BZS 1955.1.813-826, 1955.1.826-857) reveal a common defect in that many were struck well off-center. The extraordinary number of seals attributed to this man may also point to their original discovery in an archival deposit.
