Commentary

The obverse monogram contains two δ's, perhaps both to clarify that the monogram's resolution is Δαυίδ and to make the monogram symmetrical. The relationship between the two names is uncertain; it is possible that we can here read David, son of George, as υἱου (son of) can be found within the George monogram but not within the David one.
