Lord, help your servant Prokopios bishop of Kibyrra.

Commentary

Kibyrra of Karia, close to modern Korsun (Gölhisar), was the site of a bishopric suffragan to Aphrodisias/Stauroupolis, attested in all notitiae from the 7th to the 13th century; its bishops are known to have attended councils from 325 to 869. We do not believe that it was ever the capital of the theme of the Kibyrraiotai, as suggested by Laurent. See DHGE 12 (1950) 826-27; Laurent, Corpus V/1, 382; Fedalto, 195-96; Zgusta, 253-54; P. Yannopoulos, "Cibyrra et Cibyrréotes," Byzantion 61 (1991) 520-29.
