Commentary
It is almost certain that the present specimen, BZS.1958.106.5519, and BZS.1958.106.70 belonged to the same person, Michael of Neokaisareia, who was proedros of the protosynkelloi in 1072 and became the imperial sakellarios of Michael VII Doukas, taxed the properties of the Church and was deposed by his colleagues for exercising a layman’s function. We assume that on the obliterated side of the next specimen, one would find the other titles of Michael. On the person, see REB 18 (1960) 70-71.
