Commentary

This specimen is among the rare attestation of the augoustalios, whose exact role remains unclear (cf. Listes, 309; see also the seal of Paul, protospatharios, judge of the Hippodrome, and augoustalios, in Zacos, Seals II, no. 1033). On the chartoularios of the archives (τῆς ἄρκλας), see BZS.1951.31.5.1892.
