Commentary
It is not impossible that this specimen refers to the bishopric of Ankyra in Phrygia. But we are inclined, as was Laurent, to attribute it to the metropolis of Galatia because in the late eighth century a metropolitan of Ankyra named Stephanos is known to have been active; he signed the Acts of the Council in Trullo in 691 (Corpus V/1, 240).
