Commentary
The inscription consists of two twelve-syllable verses, the second pointing out that Euthymios was metropolitan of Neai Patrai (today Hypate) in the theme of Hellas, not to be confused with the Patrai "down south" in the Peloponnese (cf. Bon, Péloponnèse, 159, 160).
On the bishopric of Neai Patrai, see Darrouzès, Notitiae, no. 4, line 491(?), and no. 7, line 685; Laurent, Corpus V/1, 581; Avramea, 199-201; Koder-Hild, Hellas, 223-24; Fedalto, 467-68.
